Coming Soon! *Hopefully*

Hello to all my readers! I promise, the Weekly Chrononaut is not dead. It's just been in hibernation as I've been so busy wrapping up my FINAL semester at university (now less than 11 days until graduation!!).
I just wanted to let you know of a few things I'm working on and hoping to have released very soon (sometime in mid-May):

- The (temporary) Conclusion of "Silent Night." I've nearly finished Part 6, and that will be the final update for the immediate future. It will wrap up WWI and set the stage for the post war world. I will most likely revisit that world sometime in the future, but I want to get that story to a stopping point and work on some of my other projects I have going.

- Arcadia Springs/Chamber Chronicles: I first mentioned this early in November as a potential project. My goal is to have a first story out sometime in May. I've been hammering out the back story, and hope to have something for you to read soon.

- Titanic Colony: This is a story I started some time ago, and my siblings have been pestering me to do more with it. I think I'll start sharing that story shortly. This is a bit of sci-fi mixed in with alternate history. It's essentially a world building project. I won't give much more away for now.

Also, I've set up a Facebook page to allow people to connect and interact with the blog through that site. In addition to posting links to new posts, I hope to conduct polls there and do other alternate history-related posts and discussions.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy what's coming in the future.

Status Update

Hello to all my readers! I just wanted to make a quick post to let you know that I hadn't fallen off the face of the Earth (or into an alternate universe). I've been very busy with student teaching, so I've had nowhere near the amount of free time that I had last fall when I started this blog. I've FINALLY started working on Part 6 of Silent Night, and I hope to have that out by....well, to be safe I won't set a date yet. If I get the time and the inspiration, I could have it done in the next month. Or it could take longer.
In addition, I've also been mulling over some other ideas for stories that hopefully will see the light of day on this blog sooner or later. And for those who might be wondering, I haven't given up on the idea for "Arcadia Springs" either, it just got moved to the creative back burner by other projects, including Silent Night.

Well, that's all for now. Hopefully you'll see more original work on this blog very shortly. I miss being on here!

Blog Update 11/30/12

Hello to all my readers! Just wanted to touch base with everyone, and let you know I haven't forgot about the blog. Here's a status update about projects I'm working on and hoping to get off the ground soon.

The Chamber Chronicles: I originally promised to have this story started by Thanksgiving weekend, however that obviously did not occur. I'm still working on some details on that story before I can really hit the ground running with it so I'm not quite sure when the first episode of the CC will be posted here on the Chrononaut. I would still love to here from some of you for character ideas for the story if you have any.

Silent Night: I'm excited to announce I'm working on developing a new timeline that will have it's start involving a Christmas theme. I don't want go give much away yet, but this story will start in the early 1900s, and will have a format similar to that of the Airship President/Legacy story (in other words, it will be written as a series of clips from books and newspapers from within the timeline itself).

The First Thanksgiving: I hope you enjoyed that spur of the moment short story that I wrote to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday here in the United States. It was a fun reversal of our own history, that I found enjoyable to write and speculate about. If you didn't get a chance to read this three part story yet, go check it out! Here are the links to Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

In addition to these stories, be checking back periodically, because I plan on reviewing some podcasts that I really enjoy that relate to both real and alternate history, and that I think my readers will enjoy and would love to pass along to you.

Thanks for reading!

Blog Update

Hello everyone. Just wanted to touch base with all the readers. I hope you've been enjoying what I've posted so far and are looking forward to more articles and stories in the future.
I'd love to know what you would like to see more of. Do you want more stories? Do you enjoy the "random facts" articles that I've posted (such as the one on daylight savings time or Guy Fawkes Day)? Have an idea for something else? Please, PLEASE, let me know! You can comment bellow or contact me on facebook.

So, I'm still working on the Chamber Chronicles series. I'm behind schedule, so I probably won't have the first "episode" out until around Thanksgiving (next week for my non-American readers that are out there). Still working on some of the backstory and some of the characters. The setting is more or less done though. Hopefully I can get everything nailed down soon. By the way, I'd love to hear suggestions for characters in this story. So if you have any ideas, let me know!

Recommendation: How the States Got Their Shapes

I've been working on my upcoming story "The Chamber Chronicles", which I hope to premier sometime within the next week. In addition to working on the characters and their stories and how they will interact, I've also been working on creating the setting for the story. The "Chronicles" will take place primarily in and around the fictional town of Arcadia Springs, Oklahoma, which is supposed to be located just east of the real town of Edmond Oklahoma. What I've essentially done is create an "alternate" version of my home state of Oklahoma. In it, Guthrie remained the state capital, and the development of central Oklahoma has gone very differently. I also played with the geology a bit to place a hot springs roughly where the real town of Arcadia is.

As I was working on all of this, I was reminded of the show "How the States Got their Shapes" on The History Channel. This show explores all of the (often little known) stories of how the various states of the United States got the shapes that they have today. We often take for granted the boundaries of the states, or where certain cities are, or how important those cities are when in reality they came to be the way they are by a culmination of various events and people that quite honestly could have gone differently and resulted in a very different looking map.

The show has currently aired two seasons, both of which are available on iTunes and from The History Channel's website, and are still being aired as reruns on The History Channel. If you get a chance to catch an episode on tv, or if I've intrigued you enough that you go and download an episode or two, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I myself only learned about the second season today, and as soon as I am able to do so I'm going to download it from iTunes.

Hope you get a chance to enjoy this really great show.

Coming Soon! "The Chamber Chronicles"

Welcome to Arcadia Springs, Oklahoma. A small resort town located just East of the Guthrie-Edmond Metro Area. Home to the Lake Arcadia, Arcadia Springs Air Force Base, and the famous Grand Springs Hotel and Spa, this small city seems like any other suburb in the Midwest. Good schools, a historic downtown, and partnerships with nearby universities, it seems like the quintessential place to raise your family.

But underneath City Hall lies one of America's greatest national secrets, known to only those at the  uppermost levels of the government and military. Unearthed by accident in 1920, the Arcadia Springs Chamber has opened up whole new worlds for scientists, soldiers, sociologists, and historians to explore. Literally. With the seemingly alien device dubbed the "Multi-Earth Portal," brave human explorers can be transported to a nearly infinite number of "alternate Earths." Worlds without humans. Worlds with totally alien seeming civilizations. Worlds where human history went in a very different direction. Endless possibilities that have kept the men and women of the Arcadia Springs Chamber Command busy exploring the unknown since 1946.

Join Nicolas Sterling, a bright university student, as he uncovers this amazing secret that exists underneath the streets of Arcadia Springs, and all of the amazing and sometimes terrifying worlds that await him and the members of the ASCC on the other side of the Portal.
